Brand name

The name ‘Oberdorfer’ comes from the original village name Markt Oberdorf, located in Bavaria in the southeast of Germany. The city is now better known as Marktoberdorf, as it was renamed around five decades ago.

There, in the district called Leuterschach, Oberdorfer Helles is brewed by hand in the old Bavarian tradition.

Brand design

The Oberdorfer Helles brand design is not just a creative collection of random elements.
It represents the brand’s roots, along with the rich history and traditions of the region in southern Bavaria.

Bavarian tradition

Our beer label proudly features a traditional Bavarian church with its iconic onion dome – a symbol deeply rooted in the cultural landscape of southern Germany. Much like our brewing process, this architectural detail reflects authenticity, heritage, and a strong connection to our homeland. Just as the onion dome rises above Bavarian villages, our beer stands as a proud ambassador of regional tradition and craftsmanship.

Bavarian blue-and-white diamond pattern

The white and blue diamonds are the symbol of Bavaria. Since the 13th century, the diamonds have been an integral part of the coat of arms of the Wittelsbach dynasty, the Bavarian nobility. When Bavaria became a kingdom in the 19th century and many new parts of the state were added, the white and blue diamonds became the symbol of Bavaria as a whole. In 1835, King Ludwig I of Bavaria redesigned the royal coat of arms, which was to be understood as the national coat of arms. The center of this coat of arms, the inescutcheon, was formed by the white and blue diamonds. Today, they symbolise Bavaria all over the world.

Bavarian lion

The two lions holding a shield continue a tradition dating back to the 14th century. The lions are part of the Bavarian coat of arms.
